About
I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Riverside. My research examines how institutions and information interact to affect political behavior.
As a Principal Investigator with the Everyday Respect project, my research studies police-civilian interactions using body-worn camera footage from the Los Angeles Police Department. Our team studies both the human annotations from bodyworn camera recordings and develops machine learning models to analyze multimodal communication during traffic stops, with a focus on procedural justice, racial disparities, and the political consequences of routine police contact.
I am also the co-author of Finding Pathways: Mixed-Method Research for Studying Causal Mechanisms, published by Cambridge University Press.
I received my Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego in 2008.
